HomeBuilder grant triggers land buying frenzy.

The government’s new homebuyer grant has triggered a land rush with demand surging in the last two months.

Enquiries have soared by nearly 60 per cent in July after the HomeBuilder scheme was announced, with the construction of future stages fast tracked to meet unprecedented demand.

“The $25,000 handout for those building a new home for less than $750,000 was intended to incentivise first time buyers and this group has responded in droves,” said Garett Kleinschmidt, Fortress Group Sales Manager.

Enquiries from new buyers looking for vacant land was up nearly 180 per cent, compared to homeowners rising by 35 per cent and investors just 26 per cent according to figures released this week from realestate.com.au

All Australian states and territories are working together to finalise how the grant will be administered since it began on June 4.

It is expected that an online application form will be available in early August.
